Trip Overview
-
Destination Nepal, Everest Region,
-
Duration 19 Days
For real mountaineering enthusiasts, this expedition style trek follows one of Nepal’s most challenging routes. The journey begins in Rolwaling Valley – under the towering Gauri Shankar near the Tibetan border – one of Nepal’s famous “hidden valleys” inhabited by isolated groups of Tamang and Sherpa. If we are up for the challenge, the ascent to the summit of Parchamo Peak at 6273 meters awaits us. We’ll cross the Tashi Lapcha Pass at 5700 meters, which separates the Rolwaling and Khumbu regions, and descend through the Khumbu valley to Namche Bazaar. This is a strenuous journey that should be undertaken by those with high-altitude trekking experience. Temperatures as low as -20 degrees can be expected at higher altitudes, and technical climbing equipment must be carried if the summit of Parchamo Peak is attempted.

Trip Notes
This trek is intended for serious trekkers with mountaineering experience. Special equipment such as gaiters, crampons, and ice axes will be discussed during trip preparations, as they will be required for the ascent of Parchamo Peak. The stated itinerary has been planned to provide adequate time for acclimatization and to enable flexibility if the weather is not ideal for the summit. Expect an extreme test of your wits and physical stamina, with average days of 6 – 8 hours navigating challenging grades and uneven terrain. For the sake of ideal weather conditions and visibility, we recommend planning this trek during Autumn (Sep – Nov) or Spring (Mar – May) seasons.
