Tamang Heritage Trails is one of the nearest trekking destinations from Kathmandu, lies an unparalleled combination of natural beauty and cultural riches of Langtang Region. Over 70 glaciers of varying sizes, picturesque Langtang and Ganesh Himal mountains range, and high altitude lakes including Gosainkunda, Parvatikunda, Bhairavkunda, and Dudhkunda are worth able visit in Langtang Region. In addition, mainly Tamang inhabitant this area is idyllic culture similar like Tibetan, those goes back to hundreds of years. The unique craftsmanship, typical dress, traditionally built stone houses, and the beautifully carved wooden verandas reflect the Langtang rich Himalayan heritage.
Itinerary
You will be greeted at the airport by a representative from Mystic Nepal and transported to your hotel. Unwind from your flight and meet us in the evening for a welcome dinner at a traditional Nepalese restaurant.
Relax for the afternoon and enjoy a guided tour of Kathmandu’s unique attractions. We’ll spend the day exploring several of the city’s most famous cultural landmarks like the sacred Hindu pilgrimage site Pashupatinath on the banks of the Bhagamati, Swayambunath (Monkey Temple), and Bouddhanath, Nepal’s largest and most revered Buddhist stupa. In the evening we’ll meet with your trekking guide and team members for a trip briefing and preparations for the journey.
We depart in the morning for a scenic drive through Nepal’s middle hills along the Trishuli River to Syabrubesi via Dhunche.
About an hour and half of ascent from Syabrubesi we reach the view point from where we can see the fantastic view of Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda range and the Goljang valley, then we head down to Goljang valley for the Lunch which is an hour walking down hill. We get in beautiful Gatlang Tamang village is another 3 hrs walk from Goljang.
This would be one of the longest days of the entire trip and will take about 6/7 hours. The trekking trail begins by descending to Thangbuchet (near Chilime village) by the Bhotekoshi River. The Chilime Hydropower dam made beautiful tranquil lake here. After lunch the trail will ascending up crossing the hanging bridge then ascend continues until you get to Tatopani which literally means 'hot water', you can cleanse yourself in natural hot springs with bathing areas in the lap of the mountains.
After breakfast the trail ascends to Nagthali Danda (3300m) the high open grassland with amazing views of snow covered Himalayas. We will top for lunch at Brimdang village then the trek continues ascending to Nagthali Danda. We are enjoying the view and spend some time at the top accompanied by tea prepared by the care taker of the Gompa. Again we continue down to Thuman, Tibetan influenced Tamang village with friendly people who love to sing and dance.
The trail begins with flatter in the beginning and descends to Timure en route to the old trade route to Tibet. The famous Rasuwaghadi (Nepal-Tibet boarder) is just 3hrs walk from Timure. After lunch the trail continues for another Tibetan influenced Tamang village Briddim for a unique home stay experience.
The trail leads us through the forest and hill terrace Tamang unique settlement to the Lama hotel. Some time we will encounter wild boar and Longur (monkey). On the huge rock we can see wild beehive stacking. People of here collecting honey from here using their indigenous knowledge.
Drive from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu: 7 hours drive
We’ll depart after breakfast by bus or private van to Kathmandu. We’ll reach Kathmandu in the evening and transport you to your hotel. Spend the evening taking care of any last minute shopping or sightseeing after an amazing trip.
